KIA

I really did think that my longest lasting hobby ever had died until I saw a picture of a bed, a basic bed made up of a few rectangles. I opened milkshape, uvmapper and my trusty rusty photoshop elements 3 and got to it. I got carried away with the enjoyment of simply making things. Sometimes you can work your butt off but it never quite gets to what you want it to be and this lot just flowed, probably because I wasn't thinking of the sharing with everyone thing which creates enormous pressure btw. Testing time produced a few flaws for game play but I managed to sort them out without major migraines.

I know that there are fewer updates for Sims 2 nowadays but the game isn't over until we say it is. It is a wonderfully creative outlet with very few constraints and endless possibilities. I am still learning things five years on from when I first started.

Back to Kia; different bits can be used in different rooms. As I hate having routing issues in a hallway and sims need a place to put their bills, preferably next to a front door, I designed the console table to be slim enough so that they could pass by it. There are 3 extra deco slots for very small things....so choose wisely, ie, the orchid-in-sisalbasket needs to be rotated to fit well on the sides. Leave the middle space for post unless you only play to decorate.

The two cube endtable fits snugly under the big appartment life window but will only hold objects with cheat "moveobject on". Why? I haven't the foggiest. If you have Al you can stack them as high as you want and come up with all sorts of combinations. If not, everything is still base game compatible.

The only repository part are the baskets slaved to the orchid and a fair few separate recolours for each. Oh and the wardrobe is completely empty. Small picture frame is slaved to BV poster and the wall frames are slaved to the Olive Peynter with 3 new painting recolours.

Well, there you go. I can't think of anything else apart from that sisal baskets rule forever! ...and I babbled....alot.

17 new meshes and a collection file included in the download. I hope you enjoy using this as much as I enjoyed making it.

ps, pictured but not included: bedding and brown shade lamp from Aurore, catnip from Pebbles and squiggly lamp from Bamboozled.

UPDATE 13 March: the bed was not recolourable so that should be fixed. The updated bed is included in the main download.

  23. This is a gorgeous set! You're right about Sims 2 not being over until we say so; I'm certainly loving it more almost a decade after it was released. I can also empathize with how sometimts creative things just flow - I don't create for Sims, but the feeling transfers across all areas of creativity. Items from this set are going to get muchly-used in my game. Sisal rules! Thank you for making.

And you're right, even if fewer people are creating for Sims 2 these days, people are still creating, and playing. The game definitely isn't over!

  40. Thank you so much for this lovely set. You're very talented and have always been one of my fave creators. What's great, and more important, is that you enjoyed yourself so much in creating this set. That's the way it should be. First thing I did when I seen it was to turn my laptop around so my oldest daughter could see it. I am looking forward to using this in many of my sim homes. :)

  42. Ah, it's nice that there's still S2 lovers, but tbh, S3 ate my life... is so much better!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just came across your blog, and all I can say is wow! Your skill with textures is amazing. Your objects look so real, yet still fit with the general style of the game. I for one still love Sims 2 and am always thrilled to find a new source of quality CC. Thank you so much for sharing your creations!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am a bit overwhelmed by all the feedback actually and again, thankyou!

I do strive to make things so that they will blend to a certain extent with the in-game stuff and also have a quality that makes you feel you could reach out and touch them for real, even if they have a cartoony look. If anyone else feels the same way that makes me so happy.

As for the S3 is better type comments, they are rather misplaced here. I could say that I enjoy the creating process for Sims 2 and that creating for Sims 3 would be a very dull chore for me personally. That is not a sweeping statement about either game or any indication of what others feel. It is simply personal preference.

There are plenty of people playing Sims 2, plenty playing both games, plenty who prefer Sims 2, plenty who prefer Sims 3 etc. Almost 3 years along, the Sims 2 should be totally dead and that is not the case. That speaks for itself. There are fewer updates for both games frankly as I think many creatives have gone off to other pastures and so what? It's not a competition. It is about enjoying what feels good for each player.

  52. I for one must say thank you for your extremely beautiful creation and I will use it with care, love and respect since I do not yet know you but feel as if I do. I am new to the Sims2 family and love living it. Like so many I wish we could really live it but since we can't then it is played and played with friends new and old. This is where I say thank you once again and welcome to this newbies family of great creators and players and new friends. They all say welcome back and since I didn't know you then I say welcome home and hope to see many of your wonderful ideas come to life.

  68. I have AL and the buggers still won't stack. I even used the cheat code. Any advice?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I couldn't answer before so I don't know if you'll read this:

With AL you can move them up and down the walls so and they will look like they are stacked, not actually "stacked", probably the wrong choice of wording.

NOTE: The Box link works fine; I was able to download this and others with no problem. I do get a message saying that the *preview* is unavailable, but the link to download the archive containing the set is alive and well just underneath that message.
