The Craftsman

I am back with a new project after a rather long and very unintentional hiatus. I will start by saying it is by no means finished as I do have every intention of making lots and lots of thing for all sorts of rooms. Some of you may remember my Charles Rennie Mackintosh set of yesteryear;  I love Arts and Crafts so skipping over the Atlantic with this follow up is pretty logical. This is honest, unpretentious, simple and yet beautifully styled furniture from around 1900.  I have put my stamp on it with a light wood texture rather than quarter sawn oak which makes some pieces look quite modern but I am working on a darker oak recolour with pretty stencilling. You may not realise it but the Sims 2 games are choc-a-bloc full of American Craftsman things, there is even an endtable called the "Gustav Stickler"  in honour of Stickley himself. However I find much of it rather chunky and too clunky for my liking and frankly fuglified (although both sets of their craftsman windows are pretty nice).

So, this first lot up for grabs is mainly living and dining orientated and so far there are 14 new meshes. The grandfather clock and fireplace are in perfect working order although the addition of the copper hood has sims poking and prodding through it and that cannot be helped. There are deco slots on and in many of the items where I saw fit to add them, the coffee table has 3 on top,2 under for stashing magazines and the china cabinet is ready to be filled with books and curios. The only piece of furniture pictured but not included yet is the high back Morris style chair which still isn't to my satisfaction so that will be for next time hopefully.

As a sidenote this project in it's entirety is dedicated to Judith who helped testing and gave me many useful suggestions.  Polywise there is nothing vaguely outrageous here, it'll all run smoothly on older machines).

Happy Simming!

PS: Only if you downloaded this before 17.30 (European time) June 8, the two slave files BB Craftsman Plantstands tall and small were not recolourable:  DOWNLOAD FIX
There is no problem with the master BB_Craftsman_Plantstand_Medium and all recolours should now work across all 3 files.

For those of you wishing to recolour you can download a set of psd templates  here.

  50. Thank you for all your wonderful work. My computer recently had a hissy fit and I lost a great deal of my content. It just wouldn't be the Sims if your creations weren't there. Thank you again.

  51. I started playing Sims 2 again, and I am so happy I've tracked you down again in your new home, and so happy you're still creating. Your items are amongst my most-used, period. Hope you're well :)

  52. I love and use this set all the time in my game. Absolutely beautiful. BTW, the tall plant stand has a tiny problem...It's supposed to be a salved object, but it shows as not recolorable in the game..

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was just reinstalling my game after reformatting my computer, last time I played it regularely I downloaded lots of stuff from you. Sad to see the message that you won't be making more stuff, but it's totally understandable! Happy new year! Thankyou!

  54. BB, thank you for all of the wonderful and beautiful items you have made over the years for all of us. I began playing TS2 again a few weeks ago and thanks to people like you I'm enjoying the game once more. Again, thank you so much :)

  55. I now know why I've never seen this set in any creations on any site besides here. It's a wonderful set and I would love to have it for my game, but, not everyone has a MODS file set up. I did have one and it slowed my game to a crawl. Would it be possible to convert this set to a Sims3 file?

  56. Oooh, aah! I love all of your creations BB, but these are really the best. Arts and Crafts is my favourite furnishing style. So, sorry for me that you will probably never finish the chair or make anything more, but I am sure that someone with all of your talent and attention to detail is already immersed in another hobby and I wish you as much satisfaction with it. (Can I ask where the little table beside the fireplace with the candles on it went?) ..kangals

  57. So sorry BB, just added the desk to the collection and there was the little side table. (Slaps self.)..kangals

  59. I can't download any of your creations, the links don't work, could you please help me?

  60. All of the boxnet downloads appear to not be working anymore. I'm starting playing Sims 2 again and lost all my downloads, and was looking forward to using Buggybooz's lovely objects. I hope someone can make sure these downloads don't get lost forever.

  65. your stuff is in every house I build :) came here tonight to pick up a few missing pieces and noticed the Morris Chair in the last photo for your Craftsman set and was wondering if you were ever able to get it made to your liking? I started a new town, building homes for my dearly departed (in rl) loved ones (not mental, hah! just need to heal my heart). I sure would love to have your Morris Chair for the Cabin I'm building for my Dad. If you have it stashed somewhere, please reach out to me. Thank you for everything you've created to make my builds more lovely {{hugs}} Theresa
